1977 450SL Roadster Merc

1977 red 450sl two door roadster with original interior and original clean floor mats.  Car includes both soft and hard tops.  The black convertible top was replaced a few years ago and it has never been used until this summer to show the vehicle for selling purposes. The plastic windows are nice and clear.  The vehicle belonged to my aunt who lived in Southern California.  I have owned the vehicle for 13 years and it has always been garaged at my home or in my storage unit.  Like I said, I am downsizing my collection.  Otherwise, I'd keep the car as I love it.

Car has over $7,000.00 in new parts/maintenance over the last 2 years from an authorized Mercedes repair facility.  I have receipts for the majority of the repairs which are included with the sale.  The vehicle is in great shape and it's very solid. The paint is still very nice with the occasional tiny scratch or chip here and there.  I also purchased some brand new tires and they only have around 500 miles on them.  The vehicle also has an old-style cellphone on the console which I kept for nostalgic purposes. It also has a hands-free microphone mounted on the driver's side visor.

New parts / Maintenance:

New plugs/wires, fuel injection/injectors, fuel distributing hub, new fuel pump, new fuel accumulator, new fuel warmup regulator (Over $1000.00 just for that part), new exhaust hangers, new remote keyless entry alarm system, brand new brake booster and master cylinder, newer battery, new locking gas cap and new original cap, new wiper blades and other small things here and there.  The vehicle has 134,000 miles which is not bad for the age and it should last for many more with the recent maintenance.

The matching hardtop is beautiful and in the same condition as the rest of the vehicle.  The headliner is beautiful and tight.  The trunk area and liner is all original and in amazing shape.  It even has the original Mercedes First Aid Kit which came with the car when new.

The original quartz clock still works, the power windows are perfect, all of the glass is in fantastic condition, the brakes are strong and smooth, the transmission shifts nicely, the fog lights work great and the A/C is running fine but probably needs some more freon.  The A/C still runs on the original refrigerant and has not been converted.

Engine bay and interior are all original / stock and unmolested.

Car drives beautifully and really garners attention when driving near crowds.

Okay, a few issues worth mentioning:

The fuel gauge sending module needs to be replaced.  Shouldn't be more than a couple of hundred.  The back window on the hardtop cracked while in storage.  A glass man should be able to fix that for around $100.00 or so.  I would request a used piece of glass as the Mercedes dealer wants way too much!  There's also some small rust bubbles around the 450sl emblem on the trunk lid and one tiny bubble near the side trim on the driver's side front fender.  I heard this is common on the 450's as moisture can leak into the holes where the emblem is mounted. They have been there ever since I've owned it and have not spread.  The rest of the car, the fenders/body are rock solid.  I don't believe that it has ever been in an accident or repaired with any type of body filler.  I do have an extra trunk lid that also goes with the car if you prefer to restore it to showroom quality without using any filler.  I believe that the factory hood is made out of aluminum (To keep weight down) and it's beautiful!  Car has a dash cover and the original dash is nice but has a couple of thin cracks on top.  They make replacement covers now but it looks great with the cover considering how nice the car is.

NADA online price guide value currently estimates this vehicle at around $21,000.00 USD for average retail condition.  High retail is $30,400.00.
